Side Lock

Side Lock brakes are available on Colson 1 Series, 2 Series LoPro, 4 Series, 4 Series Enforcer, and 6 Series Enforcer casters.

1 Series Side Lock Brake

Capacity up to 145 pounds each. The ends of the brake spring are crimped so they grab the wheel at four contact points, which provides extra holding power on a variety of wheel surfaces. This side locking brake is easily operated with foot action and available on 3?, 4?, and 5? caster models. 1 Series brakes cannot be used with thread guards. To order this brake with a caster specify “BRK 3”.

2 Series LoPro Side Lock Brake

Capacity up to 210 pounds each. The LoPro brake design places a positive locking force against the wheel hub to hold loads securely. A large foot pedal makes the brake easy to operate and provides easy foot placement.  This brake is not field installable and is only available on the 3? model. The swivel radius of the caster is 2 11/16? including the brake. To order this brake with a caster, specify “BRK3.”

4 Series Side Lock Brake

Capacity up to 1,400 pounds each. Colson’s 4 Series Side Lock brake design places a positive locking force against the wheel hub to hold loads securely. The larger foot pedal makes the brake easier to operate, provides better foot placement, and can be actuated from either end of the pedal for greater convenience. This brake is available on Colson 4 Series kingpin casters (2? tread width) equipped with roller bearings or one-piece Delrin bearing models only. To order the brake with a caster specify, “BRK3”.

4 & 6 Series Enforcer Side Lock Brake

Capacity up to 1,500 pounds each. This Side Lock brake is designed for Colson 4 & 6 Series Enforcer casters to accommodate a thicker leg. The brake places a positive locking force against the wheel hub to hold heavy loads securely. A larger foot pedal makes the brake easier to operate and provides better foot placement. The brake can be actuated from either end of the pedal for greater convenience and is available on Colson 4 & 6 Series Enforcer casters with wheels that are roller or one-piece Delrin bearing equipped only. To order the brake with a caster, specify “BRK3”.
